  • LD (Counter-Clockwise): Designed for shafts rotating counter-clockwise when viewed facing the sealing lip from the drive end.

Pro Tip: oil seals usually have directional arrows (↗ or ↖) molded or laser-engraved onto the outer diameter. Always match this arrow to the actual rotation of the shaft before installation!

  • Step 1: Check the Markings!

Inspect the outer wall for the rotation arrow and part numbers. Verify against the service manual or test the shaft rotation manually.

  • Step 2: Identify the Lip Orientation!

Ensure the spring side faces the oil cavity. The flat or recessed face containing part numbers typically faces outward for easy post-inspection.

  • Step 3: Use Proper Installation Tools!

Never hammer directly onto an oil seal! Use a dedicated seal driver sleeve to distribute force evenly. Ensure the shaft chamfer is ≥ 0.5 mm with a surface roughness of Ra ≤ 0.8μm to prevent tearing the lip during entry.
